Fabio Baronio

Fabio Baronio is Full Professor of Electromagnetic Fields and Head of the Department of Information Engineering, University of Brescia, Brescia, Italy.


Fabio Baronio was born in Brescia (Italy). In March 2001, he received the Laurea degree (BS, MS) in Electronic Engineering (summa cum laude) from the University of Brescia, Italy. In April 2005, he received the PhD degree in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Padua, Italy.


From 2005 to 2015, he was Researcher in Electromagnetic Fields at the University of Brescia. From 2015 to 2019, he was Associate Professor in Electromagnetic Fields at the University of Brescia. From 2019 he is Full Professor in Electromagnetic Fields at the University of Brescia.


From November 2020 he was elected Head of the Department of Information Engineering, University of Brescia, Brescia, Italy. In the periods 2007-2010 and 2010-2012, he was elected Delegate in the Board of Directors of the University of Brescia. In the period 2012-2015, 2020-2024 he was elected Delegate of the Academic Senate of the University of Brescia.


The scientific research activity of Fabio Baronio deals with Electromagnetism, Optics and Photonics. He has authored or co-authored more than 200 papers and conference contributions. He coordinated projects funded by the Italian Ministry for Scientific Research and in the framework of projects granted by the European Community. From 2019, he is Editor of the journal Results in Physics, Elsevier.

He was awarded the Gaetano Latmiral Prize by the Italian Society of Electromagnetism. He is member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), of the Optical Society of America (OSA) and of the Italian Society of Electromagnetism (SIEM).
